What I read on my summer vacation.

I’m not a massive Stephen King fan, particularly not the epicly long books he is most known for. His short stories are what I like the most.  Joyland is a short novel, one of his more efficient and straight to the point.  It has some of King’s more earnest tendencies in it, even feeling like Ray Bradbury at times.  Its the type of highbrow pulp that Hard Case Crime is great at.   Plus I’m a sucker for anything set in an amusement park.

The American Eagle has the most comfortable cabin top to lie upon while reading - something about the wood and varnish, all heated up in the sun.  It’s just about the best place I know of to read a good book.

Hi Richard, Sorry I missed this, we left Sunday night. Was this recorded and do you know where it's located if it was? Thanks!

It was streamed live on Twitch.tv.  I am waiting for it to show up in the “past broadcasts”.  Will post it here when it’s available!

The speakers all lined up in the front row before the PAX Brain Dump “Dark Secrets of Game Development” started.  From right to left, Ogden, Teasdale, Krawczyk (sorry about butchering your name!), Sears, McAuliffe, Lowrie, Anderson.  Enthusiastic PAX attendees fill the room behind them.  My, that was a lot of people.

A good time was had by all.  Thanks to everyone who came out.  Perhaps we’ll do it another time?

Four of the characters played by John Patrick Lowrie in The Suffering.  And there are more, believe me, there are many more.

But that’s OK, John’s used to it.  He played a ton of characters in Half-Life 2.  And a lot of the cast of DOTA 2.  And, oh yeah, The Sniper from TF2.

I’ve wanted to work with John again for many years, and now it appears I’m finally getting my chance, albeit briefly:  I’ve rounded him up to be on my panel at PAX, “The Brain Dump:  Dark Secrets of Game Development.”  I think it’s good to have an actor on a panel whenever possible, as it makes the event way more interesting than just listening to us developers talk.  Believe it.
